About version 0.3.x

This is a major update over verisons 0.2.x. This new version comes with the XOrg graphical environment that allows running GParted. Several graphical programs have been added such as Firefox-2.0 (we may need browsing the web to find how to repair a system) and graphical editors (gvim and leafpad). This new release also provides ntfs3g-beta. It allows mounting an NTFS partition with a full read/write support, and replaces CaptiveNtfs. All the programs were updated, and several small network tools and utilities were added. The kernel comes with the Reiser4 support. The ISO file has almost the same size: around 120 MB (except version 0.3.0 that was bigger).

Requirements

SystemRescueCd 0.4.x requires an i686 processor or better and 128 MB of memory for default options (without docache). You need at least 292 MB of memory if you boot with the docache option. This option allows the system to load the contents of the CD into memory and eject the disc.

SystemRescueCd 1.0.x requires an i486 processor or better (it works on i486 and i586 as well as i686+) and 192 MB of memory for default options (without docache). You need at least 400 MB of memory if you boot with the docache option (this option allows the system to load the contents of the CD into memory and eject the disc.), or if you boot from the network via PXE.
